Hail and Dent Repair for Petersburg, Illinois

Petersburg sits between our two shops, which gives Menard County drivers a choice: Springfield early in the week or Lincoln late in the week. Either way, we fix hail dents, door dings and creases with paintless dent repair, so the factory paint stays on the car when the paint is not broken.

In-shop repairs only. We don’t offer mobile service. Drive-in customers are welcome at either shop during its open days.

What paintless dent repair can and can’t do

PDR works from behind the panel, or with glue tabs on the outside when there is no access, to move the metal back without filler or new paint. It is a good fit when the paint is intact. Chipped or cracked paint means the panel needs paint work. Our more information page covers the difference, and our Lincoln page has more about the Lincoln shop.

After a hail storm

After a storm, check the car yourself first. See our how to protect your car before a hail storm guide. Our guide on how to check your car for hail damage walks you around the panels, and the dent estimating guideline explains why we look at dents on a clean car, indoors, under proper PDR lighting.

Whether hail damage is covered, and what you pay out of pocket, depends on your policy and your insurance company, so start by calling them. In Illinois you are not required to use your insurance company’s suggested repair shop, though if your shop charges more than the amount they will pay you may have to pay the difference (Illinois Department of Insurance). We can’t tell you what your policy covers, but we can look at the damage in person and write up what we find.

Don’t make it worse

See our Jacksonville page for another shop-area route.

A home repair attempt can stretch the metal or crack the paint and rule out PDR. Please read our do-it-yourself warning first.
