We do not have a shop in Chatham, and for most of Chatham we do not need one. Our Springfield shop is about 8 to 9 miles from downtown Chatham, roughly a 15-minute drive. Chatham has been on our list of Springfield-area towns for years, and we have been taking dents out of central Illinois cars for more than 25 years.
Chatham to our Springfield shop
The usual way is north on Route 4 into Springfield. The shop is at 550 North Street, Suite 2. Figure about 8.5 miles and 15 minutes, give or take traffic. These are rough numbers from public map routing, so check your map app before you leave.
Which day works best from Chatham
The Springfield shop is open Monday to Wednesday, 8:00 to 5:00. That is the easy one from Chatham. If Thursday to Saturday is all you can do, our Lincoln shop is about 44 miles away, around 55 minutes by I-72 and I-55. For hail jobs, the usual routine is that you drop the car off and we take it from there. At the estimate we will tell you how long we need it.

What we fix
Door dings, creases, body-line dents and hail. We push the metal back where it belongs without sanding, filler or a respray, as long as the paint is not broken. The work happens in our shop bay, and the factory paint stays on the car. If the paint is chipped or cracked, we will tell you up front that the spot needs paint work (see our PDR information page).

Whether hail is covered, and what you pay out of pocket, depends on your policy and your insurance company. Call them, get a claim number, and then call us. In Illinois you are not required to use your insurance company’s suggested shop, though if your shop charges more than theirs you may have to pay the difference (Illinois Department of Insurance). Original paint holds its value. Filler can crack down the road (we have seen plenty of it, see body filler cracking), and a respray can be spotted by the next buyer.
