Hail and Dent Repair for Rochester, Illinois

Rochester sits just east of Springfield in Sangamon County, which makes our Springfield shop one of the closest paintless dent repair shops for Rochester drivers. Hail dents, door dings, creases and shopping-cart dents can often be fixed without sanding, filler or new paint, as long as the paint is not broken.

In-shop repairs only. We don’t offer mobile service. Drive-in customers are welcome at either shop during its open days.

Which shop fits

Springfield is open Monday to Wednesday, 9:00 to 5:00, and is the natural pick from Rochester. If a late-week day works better, our Lincoln shop is open Thursday to Saturday, 9:00 to 5:00. From Rochester it is about 36 miles, roughly 45 minutes, by map routing.

What we fix

Paintless dent repair (PDR) moves the metal back from behind the panel, or pulls it with glue tabs where there is no access, so the factory paint stays on the car. It works best when the paint is intact. If the paint is chipped or cracked, the dent is not a PDR candidate, as our more information page explains. We also repair aluminum panels, which take more care than steel.

After a hail storm in Rochester

After a storm, check the car yourself first. See our how to protect your car before a hail storm guide. Our guide on how to check your car for hail damage walks you around the panels, and the dent estimating guideline explains why we look at dents on a clean car, indoors, under proper PDR lighting.

Whether hail damage is covered, and what you pay out of pocket, depends on your policy and your insurance company, so start by calling them. In Illinois you are not required to use your insurance company’s suggested repair shop, though if your shop charges more than the amount they will pay you may have to pay the difference (Illinois Department of Insurance). We can’t tell you what your policy covers, but we can look at the damage in person and write up what we find.

Before you try a fix at home

Suction cups, hair dryers and screwdrivers can turn a repairable dent into one that needs a body shop. Read our do-it-yourself warning before trying anything. A dent that has been worked on can sometimes still be saved, as in our write-up on a poor previous dent removal fixed properly, but not always.
